Understanding UI/UX

In my understanding, UI involves the visual aspect of an app like design, graphics, layout etc. It is the first thing users sees when they access it. A well designed UI should be visually appealing and easy to navigate interface with users. A good UI makes the app attractive to users and differentiate it from other apps.

UX on the other hand, user experience refers to how a person feels when interacting with an application in general. This includes navigation, responsiveness, interactivity, usability and accessibility. A good UX ensures users can find what they need quickly, perform tasks efficiently and enjoy themselves while doing so it's what keeps people engaged and coming back. A good UX ensures that users can easily find what they are looking for whereby reducing frustration.

A Good UI and A bad UI

Canva and pixellab as a case study

Canva UI is a beautiful demonstration of design skills and principles, with an interface that is concise and visually appealing. It's navigation menu is easy to understand and use with uncluttered labels. Designing in Canva is very convenient to enable one to concentrate on their imagination and becomes easier for the users to move and locate what they they desire.

Pixellab tool is advertised as having advanced features, but suffer from a weak user interface. The functions of Pixellab are more complex and difficult to use such that they need more time for one to master them. The app lacks visual feedback which make it difficult for users to comprehend how their actions affects system state or objects involved in their actions. It's navigation menu fills up with too many choices and ambivalent tags making it messy.
